Halo 3

So one of the wonderful things about college is the amount of time that guys here spend playing video games.  I have personally logged hundreds of hours on various games and even various consoles.  We play PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii.  Yes we have a Wii.  The top games amongst me and my friends are Halo 2, Enchanted Arms, and Gears of War.  However, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Viva Piñata are also popular.  So last Monday (9/24) we went to GameStop and waited for several hours for the release of Halo 3 at midnight.  There was a line of about 200 people at that one location alone.  So about 15 minutes after midnight with a legendary edition of the best-selling game ever we went home to play.  The original goal was to play multi-player until class the next day.  Yes an all-nighter!  We made until about 4 am and crashed.

Naturally the next day we began campaign.  My roommate and I went through campaign on heroic difficulty in about 8-9 hours.  I was truly impressed.  The campaign was amazing and the ending well, WOW!!  Since then I have also beaten it on normal, found all of the thirteen hidden skulls (that was a challenge!), logged dozens of hours playing on Xbox Live, and even Forged a map with my roommates.  By this I mean that we used Forge ( a mode of gameplay) to change elements of the maps that already exist.

Over all I really enjoyed the campaign, it was perfect in almost every aspect.  The Forge is a lot of fun and it allows a creative edge to gameplay.  Multi-player however was a little disappointing for me.  Most of the new maps are far to elaborate and they only kept one map from the previous game.  I miss Coagulation (or blood gulch for some), I really miss Lockout and Ascension.  But I will have to take what they give and enjoy it, was it worth it….Yes!  Even though my girlfriend feels a little neglected!
